Etiquette of a Gentleman

Every one of us loves to be a gentleman in front of our lady. We try hard to portray ourselves as gentlemen, however, sometimes our ladies does not like us a lot. They used to avoid us sometime after our first date. We might have followed the Dating do's and Don'ts properly. But why are they not considering us as gentlemen.

Ladies does not like rude people who does not have any etiquette and does not show their gentleman character. They do not expect you to be a 100% gentleman but at least they expect you to follow the basic gentleman etiquettes.

We compiled a short list of Basic Gentleman etiquettes that will help you to gain the confidence from your lady. These etiquettes can be followed anywhere. I advice you not to pretend following these etiquettes but follow them from your heart.

General Gentleman etiquette

Always be polite

It is important to be polite with everyone. Being harsh does not help you in anything. You might not like somebody but don't be rude with them. be polite. who knows that might bring back the person to you with love.

Do not speak loudly

Talking loud is man thing. Almost all man talks loud and tries to make their point. With a lady it does not take you anywhere. Talking loud will always back pedal your advances. Talking loudly during a dialog will bring negative attention upon you. You might think everyone listens to you carefully but they listen to you with no interest.

Do not stare

This is most important gentleman etiquette, don’t stare at other ladies. Having a look is fine but staring at them is strict No-No. No one will like you when you stare at others. While dating it could be even more dangerous. So don't stare.

Never interrupt while others talking

This is another point i would like to mention. We always do this. We just cut into the conversation and try to make our points (also we will be loud). Never interrupt. Let the person finish their talk. then if you have any comments then tell that after they complete. Interrupting others is a poor etiquette and others will think you are not having any social skills.

Respect Elders

Yes this is one of the most important gentleman etiquette which every one of you must follow. Respect your Elders. In fact you should respect everyone be it elders or younger ones. Today in this world respect for elders are reducing and young people think they know all and they do not need any help from elders. That is not true. Elders come with great experience and you should value it.

Don't laugh at others' mistakes

Do you laugh when someone in the group makes mistakes? Then you have a poor social etiquette. Yes laughing at others' mistake is as bad as interrupting others and not being polite. That’s completely bad. You will always lose your chance of invitation for future parties. Never laugh at others' mistakes. May be you can correct the mistake privately. Remember Appreciate publicly and correct mistakes privately.

Wait for others before eating.

This might happen to you all times and all places. Be it a dinner with your girl friend or you are at lunch with your colleagues. You might have rushed towards the Food before anyone else. Can you put a break on that habit? It shows poor etiquette. Never rush towards the food. Wait till everyone seated and you must start when others start.

Always Open doors

You want to leave a mark on others heart, this is one rule that will leave a pleasing mark on others mark and also this is one of the forgettable rule. While going out with your girl friend for a dinner, open the door for her. Be it restaurant door or the car door. You open it. it will reflect the gentleman character of yours to her.

You might be entering your office, just hold the door open for the next person behind you. In my opinion this is also one of the most important office etiquette.

Help her to put on her coat.

Do you go to a big restaurant with your lady for a dinner? Is she wearing a overcoat, you have a perfect opportunity to cease her heart towards you. Help her to put her coat on her. This is a simple but subtle rule that helps you to win your lady's heart.

Help a lady with a seat.

It is important to help ladies to find a seat even if this action costs you your seat. When you see a lady arriving with no seats available offer her your sear but be careful, you should not do this to other ladies when your girl friend is around and waiting for a chair for her :)

Ask your lady if she needs anything

Do you want to sit on a lady's heart as a King?, Ask her if she wants anything. I know you already do that but do it once more from your heart. During any social events, make sure to ask the lady if you can help her with anything she wants. Show her that you care about her comfort and needs.
